Second Instalment

A lot later than promised more pictures from our Hong Kong trip. We visited the old part of Central and it was incredible. Very narrow streets, tiny shops with goods displayed on the pavements and all this surrounded by huge high rise blocks of flats, in fact so tall that the sun hardly reached street level and very busy. The shops were so interesting and it was lucky that we had Eric and Erica to explain what things were.

Here is a picture taken from the Star Ferry on our way over to Central.

You can get from Kowloon to Central via a tunnel under the harbour but it's dearer by taxi and also because of the congestion takes a lot longer. The one-way ferry price is 2$HK which is about 20p and takes about ten minutes. Some of the shops are so interesting, dried fish (used in Chinese cooking) and also medicine (some of the things we saw I won't put on here as it may well upset some people. For instance dried seahorses, turtle shells and myriad other bits and pieces.

Another couple of pictures.

We got lost a couple of times. Here we are trying to decide where we were!!

A couple of shops made me laugh. In fact my camera was red hot by the end of the day. Perhaps they ought to put this sign up outside some of our doctors surgeries!!!!

I don't think the recycling message has quite got to HK yet!!
