Happy New Year

Slightly belated, but I would like to wish all who visit here a very happy, prosperous and most importantley a safe New Year. 2009 is set to be a very difficult year worldwide but I'm sure we will weather whatever life throws at us. Friends and family will help us get through the difficult times ahead.

On a more cheerful note, the celebrations in the various capital cities were pretty spectacular (but it does beg the question that with the economic climate as it is isn't it morally wrong to burn millions of £s, $s or whatever currency on something that lasts a few minutes?). DH and I saw in 2009 listening to the radio and reading a book! How boring was that but it suited us. We didn't have the dog to worry about this year as he is with youngest son in Yorkshire. For those of you who don't know, Curli is petrified of fireworks - he was a stray and must have been through a terrible experience with them. He literally shakes all the time, tries to hide under tables, chairs, beds and he's even knocked off all the books off our bookcase to get away from the noise. We normally have to stay up with him until about 1.30 - 2.00 am until it goes completely quiet. Apparently it was reasonably quiet up where they live. Christmas decorations have come down and been packed away for another year(always do it on New Years Day as I start work again straight after).

We are off to Hong Kong later on this month. Eldest son who got married in November is having the Chinese side of the wedding celebrations during Chinese New Year. We will be meeting some of DILs family for the first time (we already know her mother, father and brother and also a couple of her aunts and uncles and cousins) Can't wait to go but not looking forward to the 12 hour flight!!!!

On a more sombre note, we are starting to clear mother's house this weekend. Not looking forward to it at all. It doesn't feel right, going though your mothers peronal bits and pieces but it has to be dodne so we can get the house sold and move on. Mind you that won't be easy with the state of the housing market at the moment.

I haven't made any resolutions this year as I never seem to keep them for long. Will try and post more regularly though.

There you go then, you DID make a resolution in the end.
