Work in Progress

I haven't been entirely idle since I last posted. I've almost finished sewing the binding on a table runner I've been making for a friend who has come through a serious illness remarkably well. Hope to finish this over the weekend and I will take a photograph. I've also started makiking some ATCs to swap and I was in a swap with a group I belong to but pulled out as I really haven't been very well for a few weeks. It was for a coruncopia. We could make it either in the traditional fashion or have a go at something slightly different. I decided to go the 'slightly different' way.

I started by painting it with some acrylic paints I bought at the Festival of Quilts. I then stamped and drew random designs all over it. Next step was to couch some threads down over the design (this is where I think I overdid it a bit). Next step was to cover it in 3 different colours of tulle. I have started to FME all over but still got a lot of that to do. Its turned out too dark for my liking and the couched threads stick out like a sore thumb but its to late to to try and take them off. I'm hoping when I've finished FMEing and beading it,it might start looking how I wanted. Also when it's sewn together as a cornucopia and filled with little gifts it might look OK. This will be winging its way to NZ for my friend E. Hopefully she'll put me right and tell me what I ought to have done with it

Above is a pencil roll I made for GD for her first week at school. I'm also making one for GS who started school at the same time. I saw the pattern on Kate's blog (link on sidebar). She has a tutorial for this on her blog. Thank you Kate

GD loves it which is good.

Have taken more pictures tonight but will post them over the weekend.
