Well, almost. Let me explain. I am a very novice machie piecer and FME'r. Today I went to a class run by my friend Jan. Now she is a whizz with her machine and when she said 'you will be doing feathers by the end of the day", I nearly fell off my chair laughing!! However, true to her word we did. There were ten of us (I think) and after one machine refusing to move, mine not wanting to pull through the bobbin thread and another poor girl who's machine completely seized up (its now at the machine doctors to try and make it well again), we had our first lesson. Now my vermicelli normally looks like a real dogs dinner but, today, surprise surprise I produced a reasonable 8" sq of vermicelli. We then added a few hearts and then proceeded to do various types of FME. This afternoon we were shown how to do thread painting, fireworks and the dreaded feathers. Now I'm not saying my feathers will pass muster with the experts but I did produce (as did everybody in the class) something resembling a feather. Mind you, left side was passable but when it came to doing the right side I could not get the machine to do what I wanted (wrong, my brain wouldn't compute in which way to move the fabric!!!). Anyway I did manage to do a sort of feather shape of which I am inordinately proud!! Practice makes perfect so I will be doing a lot of practicing!! A great day in which I learnt a lot. Thank you Jan for a great day and I'm sure all the girls would echo that. When I have done a few more pieces I will try and post some piccies.
Got to go and get myself sorted out now as we are off to visit mother tomorrow (another 350 mile round journey!!!!)

Di, I am so pleased you went home and had a go, you are right, practice, practice, practice and you will get there. Today was fun wasn't it? Except for poor Maureen. Would love to do another class.
