I was away in Germany last week and had an absolutely wonderful week visiting our DIL and grandson in Osnabruck, Germany. We had remarkable weather, no rain except for a thunderstorm one night and most days extremely warm and sunny. Quite bizarre really as the UK was suffering from torrential rain and thunderstorms. Even came back with a slight tan!! We did the normal granparent things like visiting the zoo and safari park and the seaside (well not really but a man-made lake which has some sand!!). Germany only has a coastline further up North. We took some lovely pictures which I will try and put up on here at a later date.
Some time ago I took part in a Quiltie swap (I think I posted a pic of the one I received but kept meaning to put up the one I made. I'm not 100% happy with it but I think it conveys what I was trying to put across. The theme I decided on was the Raj in all its opulence and colour. The photograph drains some of the colour out as it was a darker maroon silk than it shows. All I did was used a pintuck foot randomly, sprayed with some gold ink and embellished.I used some found objects like the elephant charm and the indian style bits of jewellry from some old earings and a pendant and some shisha mirrors (cheater ones I must confess!!).
The recipient is pleased with it which is the main thing.

Ahh. So ALL you did was this and that. Get away with you Di, it is gorgeous and yes it depicts the Raj era perfectly. All those Shisha mirrors, I am impressed, I bet you sewed them all by hand too! I did mine by machine as is the norm for me. This is truly gorgeous, I'm not surprised recipient liked it.
Glad you had a good time in Germany with family too.
