Festival of Quilts

Went to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham today. Wow, there were some outstanding quilts. What struck me (and I think it was the same for friend J) were the childrens quilts. My goodness if I had been making quilts like that when I was 9, 10 or 11 I would be a superstar by now and their confidence in using machines and manipulating the fabric to what they want is incredible. Long may it last and it bodes well for quilting in the years to come!

I was very good and almost stuck to my list and I didn't buy any fabric (apart from a little bit of silk from The Silk Route(see link in sidebar)and some of that is for my friend in NZ. However, I did buy some paints (look out for my experiments in later posts) and some soluble film. My downfall was the Stef Francis stall - oooh I did go a bit daft but I can't resist some of her things. I will post some piccies of my shopping tomorrow. Mind you if I use all my goodies (and I know I will)it will have been money well spent.

Anyway I'm off to bed now as it has been a long but good day.

Hello Di, Sorry I haven't replied to you earlier about our ATC swap - things have been a bit mad here lately; I'm sure you know what that's like! I'm still happy to exchange an ATC with you - I'm going to be making some this week when a friend comes over to share the experience!
I've enjoyed reading your blog, and have added it to my browser favorites to come back to. I've just joined the Fabric Postcards group on Stitchin Fingers - just between you and me, I think fabric postcards are nicer than ATCs! Still it's all experience and fun, isn't it? Ten years ago I never dreamed I would spend so much time on a computer, let alone getting involved in all these stitching projects!!
